It was another round of jubilation and joy as members of the Eastern sector were honoured with various awards by the National SOGON. Only two members were given awards this year by SOGON in recognition of their contribution to SOGON in various fields and both are from the Eastern sector. They are
Late Prof. AOU Okpani – Distinguished service to SOGON
Asso Prof. Chidi O.U. Esike – Excellence in Research
The award was received on their behalf by the Chairman of the Sector, OUJ Umeora, who thanked SOGON for honouring members of the sector for their contribution to the ideals of the Society. He recalled the life ans times of Late Prof Okpani who he says remains an inspiration. Dr. Chidi Esike was honoured for his development and publication of the Esike’s technique in the management of postpartum haemorrhage.
The Sector Exco and members rejoice with these our great ambassadors and continue to commend the Late Prof. AOU Okpani to eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.
